Rooibos Tea helps fight Heart Disease

Rooibos Chai Herbal TeaA new study was just released that reaches some very positive conclusions about Rooibos:

Provisional results from this study indicate that rooibos tea protects the body against oxidative damage, as seen by the approximate 21% decrease in conjugated dienes in the blood. Conjugated dienes are products formed in large numbers during the early stages of oxidation (destruction) of important cellular components such as fats (lipids). These lipid peroxidation products may be implicated in the development of vascular disease.

In English, that means Rooibos helps fight heart disease and reduces oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can lead to many diseases including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. The high amount of antioxidants in Rooibos is primarily the cause of this. All around, this is good news for those who enjoy a cup of Rooibos.

Rooibos, by the way, is a South African herbal tea that is sometimes called “red tea.” It isn’t actually tea, but a herbal infusion made from the Rooibos bush in South Africa. It creates a delicious herbal tea with a nice, natural sweetness. And this study shows that not just literal teas are good for your health; herbal teas made from the Rooibos bush can do wonders for you as well.

And that makes now the perfect time to have a cup of Rooibos tea. Enjoy!

A good rooibos to try is Lemon Twist mixed with Six Summits Oolong. I have lost 10 pounds drinking this as an iced tea every day.
