Tea Cocktail: Mo-Tea-To (Mojito)

As the week is winding down, I’m looking forward to putting my feet up and sipping on a Mo-Tea-To, a variation on my favorite drink, the mojito. This refreshing beverage has an array of ingredients, but the shining star of this cool treat is the Moroccan Mint Flavored Green Tea blend (Chinese Gunpowder Green Tea with spearmint leaves).  The spearmint in this traditional Moroccan tea drink is not only the star ingredient in the variation on this Latin cocktail, but will also aid in digestion.

Mo-Tea-To Ingredients:

Steep 1tsp of Moroccan Mint Flavored Green Tea in 4oz (as opposed to 8oz) of almost boiling water for 1 minute.  Although you would normally steep the green tea in 8oz of water when brewing the perfect hot cup, it is reduced to 4oz in this recipe, as you will be adding ice cubes later on in the cocktail creation process. Add 1 tbsp of honey and then pour over crushed ice in your favorite tall glass. Stir in some lime juice, your favorite rum, a handful of fresh mint and sip your way into the weekend.

MMMmmmm. doesn’t this sound invigorating! I was in Canada recently on a snowboarding trip and found a restaurant that had incredible mojitos. I was forever in the task of learning how to make a mojito. I purchased the grinding mallet and went out and found fresh mint. It was quite a task to get started! Anyway, several recipes later and I still have not perfected it. I would certainly welcome any recommendation for the “perfect everytime recipe”!
By the way, simple syrup, is all this sugar necessary for a great drink?
