Thirsty for Tea and Hungry for Knowledge: Tea iPhone App

On breezy summer afternoons you might brew yourself a cup, step out into the sun and sip away while you soak up the vibrant flowers and warm air.  But if you’re like me and are just as thirsty for tea info as you are for what’s inside the cup, you might be wishing that you carried the laptop out with you. Although consider yourself lucky if you happen to be part of the iPhone club, since several tea enthusiasts have expressed their love for the camellia sinensis plant in the form of tea iPhone applications.

One of the most resourceful tea iPhone apps available for tea enthusiasts is Aromatic, which is defined as “your compass to the vast world of tea.” This iPhone app offers a wealth of knowledge with “informative descriptions, maps and photos [that] will explain the nuances of different teas.”

Konstantin Gonikman, the creator behind this fabulous app, notes that tea “has been drunk for pleasure and health for thousands of years. Even before it is brewed, a tea leaf is steeped in legend, history, geography, and politics.”

Beyond the basic tea timer, Aromatic offers a plethora of info that might last beyond a cup or two, with 17 origin regions with maps, full screen pictures of tea and origins, tasting notes, etc. Although some customers wished that the temperatures were shown in Fahrenheit as well.

So when a laptop is more than a hop, skip and a jump away, you can still take in the world of tea while sipping on your favorite blend by just tapping your phone. Why not search for pictures of where that oolong was grown, or take a look at what a Rooibos South African Red Bush really looks like.  And if you’ve made your way back inside and want to take a deeper dive into tea 101, take a peek our “New To Tea” educational page on our site.
