Celebrating International Women’s Day with A Powerful Noise

A Powerful Noise: CARETeavana is excited to be working with CARE to celebrate International Women’s Day 2009 with A Powerful Noise.

On Thursday, March 5, 2009 CARE will present the new documentary A Powerful Noise Live in 450 movie theaters across the US. This one-night only event will feature the acclaimed documentary A Powerful Noise followed by a town hall discussion with expert and celebrity panelists discussing how we can empower women to fight global poverty. You can see a movie trailer here. Details about the event:

The documentary follows three extraordinary women – Hanh is an HIV-positive widow in Vietnam, Nada is a survivor of the Bosnian war, and Jacqueline educates girls in Mali. The film takes viewers inside the lives of these women to witness their daily challenges and significant victories over poverty and oppression. Immediately following the film a town hall discussion will be broadcast live from New York to participating theatres, with renowned activists and experts including New York Times Writer Nicholas Kristof; CARE Maternal Health Advocate & Marie Claire Contributing Editor Christy Turlington Burns, and CARE CEO Dr. Helene Gayle; to discuss how we can empower women around the world to fight global poverty.

It is the perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day this year! You can learn more and purchase tickets at APowerfulNoise.org. At Teavana we’re proud to support CARE by donating 1% of our annual profits.

We hope you’re able to attend!
