Chill Out With Imperial Acai Blueberry White Tea Popsicles

As I prepare for a weekend where temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80’s, cool tea treats are on my mind. My chiller of choice this weekend: tea popsicles.

The first step in making tea popsicles would be selecting the tea. In an effort to keep these pops super light and refreshing, I would recommend a fruity blend, such as the Imperial Acai Blueberry White tea. This antioxidant rich blend combines White tea, green Rooibos, blueberries, natural acai extract, grapes, hibiscus, beetroot, rosehips and black currants.

What you’ll need:

  • popsicle tray
  • popsicle sticks (if your tray does not come with plastic inserts)
  • around 4.5 tsps of Imperial Acai Blueberry White Tea
  • standard pitcher
  • honey
  • 25oz of water

step 1: brew tea. When brewing Imperial Acai Blueberry White Tea it’s recommended that you steep 1.5 teaspoons of tea per 8oz of water at 175 degrees for 2 minutes. Considering that you will need more than 8oz of liquid, grab your go-to pitcher and brew enough tea to fill it half way (standard pitchers are around 50oz-which means would need to brew about 4.5 tsps of Imperial Acai tea for the 25oz of water). In the end, you’ll have enough tea left over for a cup or two to enjoy while the pops are freezing.

Step 2: add honey (or any other sweetener of choice) to truly turn these pops into sweet treats. If you’re looking for a cleaner more refreshing taste, then try adding some lemon.

Step 3: let the tea cool to room temperature before pouring it into the popsicle tray. Place the tray in the freezer and let your tea transform into a chilly treat. If you’re popsicle tray does not come with plastic stick inserts, then go ahead and place the tray into the freezer for about 10 minutes (when the tea starts to freeze and become slushy). Place the popsicle sticks in the slushy tea and let them freeze to their full popsicle state!

Step 4: enjoy your Imperial Acai Blueberry White tea popsicles. Unlike other overly sweet treats, these popsicles are not only delicious, but also full of vitamins and minerals, can help strengthen your immune system and detoxify your body. Beat that Mister Softee!

(don’t have a popsicle tray but still want a cool tea treat? then grab your ice cube tray and follow the same steps as above to make tea cubes-minus inserting the sticks. After the cubes fully freeze, drop them into a cool glass of water to add a subtle hint of tea.)

Yum! I used to do this often, but my hubby accidentally threw out my awesome Popsicle tray during our recent interstate move. Sadness… I need to find a new (cool) one. Any leads?

Also, have you made tea granitas yet? So tasty…

glad to hear that you’ve experimented with tea popsicles! what teas have you used?

sorry to hear about your popsicle tray. here is a link to a fun star mold: http://www.centralchef.com/storefrontprofiles/processfeed.aspx?sfid=123094&i=245294557&mpid=7714&dfid=1

I’ve never tried tea granitas, but will obviously have to now. Thanks so much for the idea!

Wow! This sounds so inviting. I absolutely love the idea of tea popsicles. With so many delicious flavors to choose from this one could be indeed difficult! My guess is that any tea chosen is going to be beneficial to anyone receiving it. I think we should all take advantage of this recipe and make popcicles! Imagine adding the herbal benefits of a tisane tea to this. Great Job brining this one to the forefront.

Williams Sonoma usually has popsicle molds as well.

If you really want to try this out, but don’t have a popsicle tray (& you really want some now!)… use your ice tray (if you have one)… after you pour the liquid in, cover the top with saran wrap and poke toothpicks into each slot– it will hold the toothpicks in place while it freezes! (or if you are patient and will remember, you can just wait until it hardens enough to stick the toothpicks in the slush– me personally, I would probably forget or get side-tracked! LOL)

This really sounds yummy… I will have to try it! I am reading this while enjoying a cuppa Imperial Acai Blueberry/Apple Lemon Pomegranate Rooibos Iced! yum!
